this is from a thread FERAL FAUN DISCUSSES RADICAL FEMINISM where I posted the story of an instrument I made out of remains of an Eb clarinet; which is a conical bore single reed that over blows the octave, has nine tone holes and is nearly as loud as a zurnah some people have said looks like an ocarina. The sound is a cross between a saxophone and a zurnah.(scroll down from the top of the page)

My most recent performance on the little horn was at the afternoon workshop of THE TIPTONS women's saxophone quartet w/drummer 10/7/08 when Jessica Lurie complimented the instrument saying she was reminded of a double reed instrument played by a tribe of men she'd known of somewhere, but fascinating since a single reed instead.( <www.tiptonssaxquartet.com> )
